There’s no doubt that effective speaking can take any great leader a long way. The ability to connect with your audience through effective speaking is a skill that is highly recommended in industry. However, when speaking you can use various techniques that will help ensure that your message is properly delivered.

Stacey Kramer is a Brand strategist who shares personal stories to help motivate people to be the best they can be. Co-founder of Brand play, a brand strategy firm, Stacey Kramer also founded Word for Word, a naming and branding consultancy serving national and global companies -- from big, recognizable names to next year's news making startups. In 2009, Kramer found herself confronting a terrifying diagnosis: a CAT scan revealed she had a brain tumor -- the size of a golf ball. She told her remarkable, personal story at TED2010.

Her preparation for this speech was done on a professional scale. From viewing the video, you can tell she used a structure form to make sure her message was delivered accurately. She used her time effectively and proper transitions when speaking.

Style
 During this speech Kramer used her personal story to connect with her audience. She shared her personal story of how she overcame the “unexpected”. Moreover, she continues to share how she turned her obstacles into a gift.  Giving her audience the motivation to be prepared to face any obstacle that may rise unexpectedly.

Kramer spoke to her audience with the hope in mind that she can help them be prepared for future obstacles using her own personal story to make a real connection. Explaining to her audience how a frightening event can turnout to be a priceless gift.


            Public speaking can be a difficult task. For this reason, it is critical to have knowledge of the subject you chose to speak on. It is even more critical to make sure you speak clearly so that you effectively get your message across. Stacey Kramer is a great example of how to use a structure form of speech when speaking about personal stories.
